Achieving National and International Recognition for Environmental Research

The Centre for Mined Land Rehabilitation relies upon a multi-disciplinary approach to deliver research solutions to the minerals industry. CMLR provides scientifically rigorous research outcomes for rehabilitation and environmental management decisions. Current studies focus on four major research areas:

Environmental Geochemistry

Understanding and predicting the source, transformation and fate of contaminants is a crucial component when managing land impacted by mining activities.

Landform Stability

The main objective of mine rehabilitation and reclamation is to create safe, stable, non-polluting and sustainable landscapes.

Soil-Plant Systems

Promoting the formation of sustainable soil-plant systems on post-mined land.

Rehabilitation Ecology

Monitoring, understanding and minimising the mineral industry’s ecological impacts, and improving rehabilitation outcomes.
